Chiangmai restaurants and places to eat hidden gems
I’ve listed the top three Chiangmai restaurants to eat and to hangout.
The Boat restaurant and bakery in Chiangmai, Thailand
Address: 237/11-14 Huay Kaew Road
Phone: 053216438, 053222934
The Boat restaurant and bakery is an institution in Chiangmai, this restaurant certainly ranks high and is very popular with locals and expats. They serve western food and awesome Thai food at reasonable prices, the ambiance of this place is great, the menu is quite interesting, the last time I went there I tried the spaghetti and Thai style fried chicken, my other favorite there is the beef noodles with basil. The bakery attached also has a variety of pastries, I love the blueberry pastry.
I visited Boat restaurant on 20th and 21st of December 2013 and had pork steak with fries -hmmmmm yummy. I took a picture of the pork steak at the Boat restaurant. It was well done with a nice sauce covering the meat on top accompanied by fries, vegetables and bread. All this for just 95 bahts. Two of us had lunch here for 300 bahts. We had 2 steaks, 1 minced beef on noodles, one hamburger and Pepsi. That should tell you that it is not expensive and I say it is definitely my favorite in Chiangmai restaurants.
Brownie steak buffet chiangmai

Mueang, Chiang Mai 50000
The best buffet in town. If you love steak, fries, mashed potatoes with noodles, soup and ice cream, then go to brownie steak buffet. They offer a unlimited buffet for 100 bahts! only $3. Check some pictures of brownie’s below.
Riverside bar and restaurant
address:9-11 Charoenrat Road., Chiangmai 50000 THAILAND
Another icon in Chiangmai is the Riverside bar and restaurant. This is a very popular restaurant with everybody, farangs and locals alike. The restaurant offers some really great well priced set menu for 4 people at 295 bahts to 660 bahts. They have a nightly cruise. The boat leaves the pier at 8:15pm every night. The restaurant recommends a reservation on the dinner cruise.
Nimmanhaemin road is where many upscale restaurants and bars are, this also the destination for some dining and unwinding.
The Blar Blar Bar
Nimmanhaemin Soi 7, Chiangmai.
Blar Blar bar is very popular with locals and the expats, this bar has live English and Thai music every night. It has a huge Asahi beer sign visible from outside the bar. The drinks and the food are awesome and it is a venue for many informal parties. A good location to have a nice evening with friends. Try the Thai style fried chicken and fries with nice cold Asahi beer there. I found them really good.
Nimmanhaemin Soi 11, Chiangmai
Open: 5pm – midnight.
This is a draft beer house that serves well researched long forgotten traditional Thai food that goes well with several international draft beers available here. This is a must visit for all beer lovers.Beer republic is closed on Mondays. Try the 5 beer sampler for 250 bahts or the 10 beer sampler for 500 bahts. This is one place where you get English ales like Boddingtons, Old speckled hen, Belgian Ales like leffe and German beer like Erdinger and many more. The food here is much talked about and researched. It’s unique in its use of ingredients that are rare in modern Thai cuisine. Overall a great experience.
Why not? Italian restaurant
14 Nimmanhemin Rd., Soi 11, Chiangmai
Great hangout, quite popular with the expats and locals. Eat everything Italian, Spaghetti, Pizza, Risotto, Gorgonzola and Parmesan cheese. They have a great selection of wines as well. Chat up have a great time in this awesome restaurant.
59/9 Nimmanhaemin Rd., T.Suthep, Muang, Chiangmai
Sahara serves up great middle eastern and western food at reasonable prices. Their double decker burger is 99 bahts and salmon steak is 189 bahts is a good deal. Good to hangout over reasonably priced international food and also have an impressive coffee and drinks menu.
